Perkasa Selangor has joined other groups in lodging a police report on the fund-raising dinner held in the Damansara Utama Methodist Church compound last Wednesday, which was attended by 12 Muslims.

The report was made by Perkasa Selangor chief Abdullah Mansor at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters at noon today.

NONE"Perkasa Selangor suspects that there were elements of proselytising among Muslims who were invited to attend the fund-raising event and a subtle agenda to spread Christianity," Abdullah said.

The move comes after Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor (Jais) raided the event last Wednesday, claiming it had evidence of proselytising among Muslims, which is constitutionally illegal in the country.

The Malay rights group cited several media reports on the raid, including those by Malay dailies Utusan Malaysia and Sinar Harian, as the basis for its suspicion.

'Bible in Malay given out'

It also cited a blog posting in which an unnamed Malay woman is quoted as saying she attended the event and was given a Malay language Bible and recordings of hymns.

"Perkasa also urges the government to investigate how the Malay language Bible, which is restricted to Sarawak, is able to make it into Peninsular Malaysia," Abdullah added.

The blog ‘Belantan' belongs to an individual going by the alias Taminsari, who also owns a pro-Umno blog set up specifically for the Bagan Pinang by-election in 2009.

The Malaysian AIDS Council (MAC) had on Aug 5 defended Harapan Komuniti, the organiser of the event, explaining that it was held to raise funds for the HIV/AIDS support group.
