The DAP has lodged a police report on a YouTube video presentation that it claims was made by individuals in order to inflame racial sentiments and incite hatred against it.

The video, titled Sembang Rakyat - Kedai 1 Malaysia, was uploaded on July 7 by a user who calls himself, or herself, ‘Kawasaki9722'.
"These are lies and constitute slander against the DAP, and are not only baseless but also seditious," said Zairil Khir Johari, political aide to party secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, in a statement today.
The report was lodged by Zairil (left) and four other representatives from the socialist party at the Tun HS Lee police station on Jalan Stadium in Kuala Lumpur just after noon today.
Contacted by Malaysiakini, Zairil said a follow-up online complaint will also be lodged with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission today, via the online complaint facility on the commission's website.
"We hope the authorities will investigate and take appropriate action against those who produced and distributed the clip, in order to avoid confusion and misunderstanding among the various races in the country."
The professionally made high quality clip, which runs for slightly over eight minutes, features a conversation between a multi-racial cast of characters at a coffee shop in an unidentified village.
DAP in cahoots with Chinese traders?
Their chatter revolves around the 1Malaysia shops and their moderately priced goods, and the ‘stars' go on to provide their own explanations as to why the prices of goods are currently rising.
A man, playing the character of a Chinese trader called Lim, tells the cast that the DAP was in cahoots with Chinese businessmen and conspired with them to increase the prices of goods in the country.
This, ‘Lim' candidly explains, is to raise the anger of the rakyat against the BN-led government.
"This video clip is the work of parties that have considerable resources but are short of ideas. The only available avenue for them is to use such dangerous tack that intends to provoke sedition and incite racial sentiments," Zairil said.
He posited that the clip was part of plans cooked up by political enemies of the DAP and Pakatan Rakyat.
"Their intention is to divide the people through their narrow, racial propaganda," Zairil lamented.
