Salesman hurt, splashed with acid

A car salesman was seriously injured when he was splashed with a liquid believed to be acid by an unknown individual in Taman Uda Murni, near Kota Bharu, on Tuesday night.
A car salesman was seriously injured when he was splashed with a liquid believed to be acid by an unknown individual in Taman Uda Murni, near Kota Bharu, on Tuesday night.
Faizal Halim Rustam, 37, was splashed with the liquid while reading a newspaper at a shop in the 8.30pm incident.
He suffered burns on his back, eyes, neck and arms.
He is being treated at the Intensive care Unit (ICU) of Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZII) and his condition was reported to be stable.
When met at the hospital yesterday, Faizal said before the incident he had bought a drink and was reading a newspaper.
"Suddenly, I felt as if my back, head and face were on fire.
"I ran to a community clinic about 30 metres away where the staff on duty quickly rubbed cream all over my body and face," he said.
Faizal was then taken to the Kota Bharu Medical Centre (KBMC) by his wife before being referred to HRPZ II because his eyes were injured.
Kota Bharu police chief ACP Azham Othman when contacted said a report had been received on the incident and police were investigating.
