Kota Raja PAS identifies more 'imported' voters

PAS have identified over a hundred more names registered as voters in the parliamentary district though they do not reside in the area, said Kota Raja MP Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud.

“We are going to the Election Commission to protest the 100 or so names later today or tomorrow, as we need time to call everyone to protest together,” she told Malaysiakini when contacted.
She explained that they initially found 1,000 names, mainly Sabahans, who were registered as new voters in Kota Raja.
However, after checking by Pakatan Rakyat staff who combed the area looking for the voters, they found that some of them are indeed residents.
PAS, however, continues to question the relocation of such huge numbers of people from other areas into the parliamentary district and why they had apparently requested to change their voting district to Kota Raja.
The opposition party claimed that Umno and the BN are doing this to try and nullify the majority in areas won by Pakatan Rakyat elected representatives in the last general election.
Siti Mariah (left) said that alarm bells sounded for her when the last update to the electoral rolls saw 7,260 names suddenly added in her constituency.
“This is the highest increase in voters among all the constituencies in Selangor,” she said.
She earlier tweeted that the questionable new voters that they have successfully reported may not nullify the huge numbers of out-of-state voters that suddenly appeared, but it proves that there are non-resident voters who were “imported” by certain parties.
Prior to this, Siti Mariah has led or organised various other protests to the EC of cases of new “imported” voters updated to the electoral rolls in the first quarter.
Hundreds of names have been submitted in the various complaints to the EC, though only a small number were cleansed from the rolls. The last protest had been made by Siti Mariah and Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim to the EC headquarters in Putrajaya.
She explained that this latest complaint will be the first in another series to contest the questionable voters in the latest update of the rolls for the period between April and June.
She initially tweeted that the party has prepared RM10,000 in order to protest the 1,000 names they found questionable, to pay the RM10 protest fee for each named voter.
