Suhardi Mat Isa who was reported to have acted as the late Baharudin Ahmad who died in the July 9 Bersih rally has agreed to give his statement to the police on the incident.      

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said Suhardi had contacted the police to give his cooperation in the case.      

Police would be calling Suhardi soon to give his statement at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters, he told reporters after a dialogue on security with residents of Bandar Sri Damansara, here, this afternoon.           

Khalid said Suhardi should have come to the police to explain when the video of his act was widely shown.     

Police is investigating the matter after receiving two reports on the incident at the Dang Wangi and Cheras district police headquarters.     

The investigation is under Section 505 (b) of the Penal Code, whereby it is an offence to cause public treachery and also under Section 233 of the Multimedia Act as the offence involved improper use of network facilities.      

Images of Suhardi as a participant of the rally thought to be that of the late Baharudin whom police maintain died of cardiac arrest.      

However, the video recording by the police of the illegal rally showed that Suhardi was actually not Baharudin.
