Education M'sia denies students were blacklisted

Education Malaysia Egypt (EME) denied today claims that several Malaysian students had been chased out of their dormitory allegedly for taking part in an illegal rally on July 9.
An EME source says in Cairo today that the claim that three students were chased out of the Dewan Malaysia was not true.

An EME source told Bernama today that the claim that three students were chased out of the Dewan Malaysia was not true, and that the students were still in their dormitory.
“This is a ploy to discredit the EME’s credibility,” he said.
A group of young ulama of the PAS Ulama Council, in a statement published on the party’s website, urged the EME to rescind its actions against several students in Egypt allegedly for taking part in the rally.
The group claimed that the EME had cancelled the scholarship for a student from Selangor, chased out three students from the Abbassiyah dormitory and blacklisted 40 other students from Perak.
Meanwhile, a Perak students’ affairs officer in Egypt, Abd Muhaimin Abd Majip, when contacted, denied the allegation.
He said that his office only submitted the names of students under its care who had taken part in the rally but said that so far, no action had been taken against any of the 27 students.
“This is not true and they are still attending classes as usual,” he said.
