Pak Lah: Why I met Ambiga before Bersih rally

Multi Racial: Ex-PM Abdullah Badawi said, "I wanted to see (Bersih chairperson S) Ambiga because I wanted to remind her that the Agong had made a very important statement on this issue, and she as a Malaysian must abide by that."

I want to know whether Abdullah has met PM Najib Razak, Home Minister Hishammuddin Hussein, Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali and Umno Youth leader Khairy Jamaluddin and several others Umno leaders that they too must abide by the Agong's statement.

Abdullah also said, "I think our government is sensitive. If there is something can be done that is good, that makes our elections more efficient, then why not? They (the government) will do it."

But he said the demands should only be taken up if these are "sincere". Well, this means they are not going to do anything. What do you mean by if the demands are sincere? It is everyone's knowledge that Election Commission is bias and our elections were never free and fair.

My advice to Pak Lah is, please retire and keep your opinion to yourself.

Anonymous_3e14: Pak Lah, if the present government and EC is sincere enough, they would have discussed and agreed with Bersih 2.0's proposal before the rally regarding the electoral reform.

Please don't give any excuses. Umno/BN simply prefers to use "kotor" approach all the way to win the GE. All educated people in Malaysia are aware of this whole issue.

Ksn: Abdullah, you advised Ambiga and she took your advice and followed His Majesty's call like a true citizen and subject.

Why did you not, at the same time, advise your successor to allow the rally in Merdeka Stadium as was actually promised by Najib? He did not keep his word. He is the PM, is he not? Did the PM, Umno, home minister show any respect to the king?

Minimum cost to BN means using public money to campaign for BN, and to use public (people's) TV stations to get across to voters.

Please stop fooling yourself, Pak Lah. You were in this scam just like the rest of the BN leaders, abusing the public property of TV and government vehicles, to campaign everywhere on the pretext of handing out development funds to the electorate.

Only the timing is most telling. You chose to do these during the campaign period. Don't think people are dumb.

Densemy: Abdullah Badawi is a 'has been' with a wonderful way with words. Note particularly the use of the words ‘may' and ‘beneficial' - what we have here is a man with nothing to say, saying nothing.

Bersih rally: 'Doctored photo' claims continue

If the police simply fire a tear gas cannister at my direction when I am exercising my constitutional right to assemble in peace, do I not have the right to return the compliment to the police by throwing it back? Does that make the protest violent?

What knife? If the protestor in question had one, the police ought to have arrested him. That does not make the whole rally violent. How do we know that this guy was not planted by the police or is from Perkasa or Umno Youth's Patriot group?

Josephine: If there is such a man holding a knife, how come the police did not arrest him? I have read countless reports on the Bersih rally from eyewitnesses and participants, and yet, the rally as it happened was peaceful.

Violence, if any, was from the PDRM and the FRU. The publishing of this photograph is, of course, to stir hatred. Too bad it is a lie, but then, this is something that the MSM (mainstream newspaper) is expert at doing.

Not Convinced: After all the reports of parangs and Molotov cocktails being found by the police in the run-up to the Bersih rally, you would have expected that they would be able to nab at least one protester with a weapon on that day.

Instead, the people who were violent and who went on a riot on July 9 are those in uniform.

Abc_3390: What else our pro-Umno newspaper dare not do? The editor are blind, deaf and dumb. Whenever Umno gives them instructions to attack the rakyat, they will blindly do it without fail.

I don't understand why some rakyat still reading these newspapers. Boycott them and make sure they close down.

Anonymous_3e04: I have not read any printed papers for a long time as I know it is a waste of money. As for the news on TV, I do not watch unless my extended family comes over and want to watch the news. I only read e-news, that is Malaysiakini.
