Unable to book a stadium for its rally, Perkasa dropped its plan to hold a counter-rally against Bersih 2.0 tomorrow, but its chief Ibrahim Ali called on all 15,000 members to "take a stroll" within Kuala Lumpur, especially at Titiwangsa lake, the initial location for its rally.

NONE"I have briefed them and suggested that they stroll, but not in the restricted areas. For example they can stroll at Titiwangsa lake, which is a recreational park," Ibrahim told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

"Officially we can't hold (a rally) but I am still working hard to get a stadium. If we can get a stadium, then we will appeal to the police (for a permit). We still have time until tomorrow.

"If we still cannot get, I urge them (Perkasa members) to have a picnic or makan angin at Titiwangsa lake."

He said Perkasa members could help "revitalise" the capital from Bersih 2.0's "terror".

"This morning Kuala Lumpur was no longer having traffic jams. This proved that the Kuala Lumpur folk are afraid. This is definitely not good to the nation's image and will have an impact on the tourism.

"Perkasa does not want this to happen. Therefore, I have ordered Perkasa members to come out as usual, to shopping complexes or recreation parks," he said.

Ibrahim staying home

As for himself, Ibrahim said he would stay at home tomorrow because he has been restricted from entering the capital city by a court order.

“I will stay at home because I can't go out. My home minister (wife) also doesn’t allow me to go out, she will monitor me. If I go out, I won’t go to a restricted area,” he quipped, to a round of laughter.

"But I hope Bersih will not victimise me by wearing a mask that has my face (and entering Kuala Lumpur). They can do that, they can do everything."

For members who have been restricted from entering Kuala Lumpur, Ibrahim urged them, together with Perkasa leaders at state and district levels, to lodge police reports against Ambiga and Bersih 2.0.

He demanded that police investigate allegations that Ambiga had received foreign funding and take stern action against Bersih 2.0's assembly tomorrow.

"The police need the support of the people if they are to investigate and act firmly," he said.

RM400 to attend Bersih 2.0 rally?

Ibrahim also claimed that people residing outside Kuala Lumpur have been sponsored between RM100 and RM400 to join the rally.

"My daughter told me her friends asked her to attend a Bersih briefing because they can get money there. I want to know where they get the money?

"If I have the money like what Ambiga has, coupled with the support from Pakatan Rakyat state governments, I can also do a 200,000-strong rally," he said.

The independent MP for Pasir Mas also accused Bersih chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan of committing treason against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for her insistence on calling for the rally at Stadium Merdeka tomorrow.

"She does not know how to respect the Agong. This woman is indeed biadap (uncivilised), not respecting the Malay culture and the institution of monarchy."
