Perkasa has submitted a request to the police to hold its rally at Stadium Titiwangsa on Saturday, not long after Bersih 2.0 agreed to move its planned street rally to a stadium.

In a statement, Perkasa said it submitted its request at 2.45pm today at Sentul District Police Headquarters.

"The late submission for a police permit is due to the difficulty faced by Perkasa in obtaining an indoor venue, especially a stadium," read the statement.

The Malay rights organisation said it is also awaiting approval from the management of Stadium Titiwangsa and Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).

PerkasNONEa's rally, themed "Pertahankan Keamanan Negara" (Defend the Country's Peace), is scheduled for July 9 at 2.30pm and intends to counter Bersih 2.0's planned rally for free and fair elections.

The counter protestors had intended to march from Masjid Negara, Dataran Merdeka, and Stadium Merdeka to Istana Negara.

However, the sudden intervention by the Agong led Bersih 2.0 to seek a compromise by relocating its rally to Stadium Merdeka in KL.

Mirroring the move, Perkasa is now seeking to hold its counter rally at Stadium Titiwangsa.

The Cabinet has since ruled out allowing the Bersih 2.0 rally to take place at any stadium within the vicinity of KL.

Earlier today, The Inspector-general of police Ismail Omar suggested that Bersih 2.0 hold its rally at Stadium Melawati in Shah Alam, but the coalition remains determined to use Stadium Merdeka as its venue.
