The Education Ministry has issued a form ordering its heads of departments to name officers, teachers, and staff who may attend illegal rallies this weekend.

The form is titled 'Borang Pemantauan Penlibatan Pegawai/Guru dalam Perhimpunan Haram atau Gerakan Yang Mengancam Keselamatan Negara' (form to monitor the participation of officers, teachers and staff in illegal gatherings or movements which may disrupt national security).
Heads of departments are required to fill in the particulars of the person involved, including name, identity card number, address of the institution and its phone number.
It's understood the form is mainly directed at staff attending to the Bersih 2.0 rally.
After completing the form, all forms are to be returned to the Education Ministry director-general's office either by fax or mail.
Barred from participating
The ministry's director-general, Abd Ghafar Mahmud had issued a circular dated June 30, in barring officers, teachers, lecturers, staff and students from participating in the Coalition of Free and Fair Elections Bersih 2.0.

The director-general claims that police have classified this as an illegal assembly and would lead to riots, demonstrations and internal conflict.
"All officers and staff under the Education Ministry and students in these institutions are prohibited in attending or participating in the rally by the illegal organisation Bersih on any days or events organised by them," he said.
