'Kelantan Utusan ban reflects PAS' attitude'

Information Communication and Culture Minister Rais Yatim said the banning of the Malay daily, Utusan Malaysia , by the PAS-led Kelantan government from covering its official functions reflects the overall negative attitude of the opposition.
Rais Yatim says PAS is not as open to criticism, while his lot was 'alright' with differing opinions.
Information Communication and Culture Minister Rais Yatim said the banning of the Malay daily, Utusan Malaysia, by the PAS-led Kelantan government from covering its state sittings and MB Nik Aziz Nik Mat's events reflects the overall negative attitude of the opposition.
Rais, who is also the Member of Parliament for Jelebu, said this had happened before when they felt that coverage on the PAS interests did not suit their line of thinking.
"Everything must be carried out according to their line of thinking. But for us, this is not the case...we are more liberal and if we are criticised or if they (the reports) are not the same as our opinion, we say it's alright.
“Actually, the people know what we do. But for PAS, they immediately take drastic action.
"This should be a reflection that must be judged by society in future. If that's the way they behave, once they are 'in power', their style will be more arrogant," he told reporters after the opening of the delegates meeting of the Jelebu Umno division by Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman in Kuala Kelawang today.
Rais said this when commenting on the decision by the Kelantan goverment yesterday to ban Utusan Malaysia from making news coverage involving Menteri Besar Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat as well as the state legislative assembly sitting with immediate effect.
The ban by the PAS-led government was in response to the caricature on the issue of rape and adultery carried by the newspaper which it described as an insult to Islam.
Meanwhile, in his speech at the opening of the meeting, Musa, who is also a member of the Umno Supreme Council, reminded Umno members against sabotaging Umno and creating problems to the party.
