The Transport Ministry has launched yet another Bus Expressway Transit (BET) route, slashing the bus travel time from Bukit Beruntung to Kuala Lumpur by 70 minutes.

Route BET6 was launched last Wednesday, and buses now take only 80 minutes instead of three hours to travel between Bukit Sentosa Satu in Bukit Beruntung and the Central Market in Kuala Lumpur the Performance Management and Delivery Unit (Pemandu) said in a statement today.

Using the Plus highway, the buses take a shorter time to reach their destination as they now take routes where the traffic is lighter.

It used to take bus commuters between two-and-a-half and three hours, depending on the traffic situation, just to travel from Bukit Beruntung to Kuala Lumpur using the old route via Tanjung Malim to Rawang and then change to another bus from Rawang to Kuala Lumpur, it said.

Travel time on the new route would take only 80 minutes, from the Bukit Sentosa Satu Terminal via the Bukit Beruntung toll, the Plus highway, the Jalan Duta toll, Selangor Club, Masjid Jamek LRT before arriving at Central Market, the statement said.

"For the route back, the buses will pass the same stops except for Stop 3 at Jalan Parlimen instead of at the Selangor Club. The bus fare for BET6 is RM4," the statement said.

BET6 is the latest addition to the BET system under the Government Transformation Programme (GTP) for Urban Public Transportation (UPT) with the National Key Result Area (NKRA) to improve urban public transportation.

"With the newly launched BET6, commuters are expected to experience a more reliable and smoother ride as the new route reduces journey time, provides comfort, and easy accessibility and connectivity," it said.
