Bersih 2.0 lashes out at EC amendments

AnakBangsaMalaysia: It is clear that the Election Commission (EC) has already begun its gerrymandering to rig the coming general election in favour of the Umno-BN regime.

The PACAs (polling agents counting agents) are effectively the people's last line of defence against electoral fraud as the EC itself cannot be trusted to conduct elections in a free, transparent and fair manner. This move by EC to ban the use of mobile phones in the polling/counting centres is clearly calculated to hobble the PACAs.

The EC, in recent years, has done everything in its power to not ensure free and fair elections. Rather the contrary: the EC has refused to implement the use of indelible ink, it has constantly gerrymandered electoral constituencies to ensure undue weightage (such that we have seats with barely 5,000 voters being equal to urban seats with 40,000 or 50,000 voters) and is now trying to undermine the role of the PACAs.

Bersih 2.0, please call for international election observers - it is obvious the EC cannot be trusted.

Tuah PJ: What happens to the voting papers after the counting and verification? I think it should be destroyed after it has been verified.

Some people have noted that the government seems to be aware who we have voted for and in this way, affects how they treat our applications for licences, scholarships, etc. I believe there is some kind of coding done on the voting papers that can be checked back to see who voted for whom.

Dev: Organise the Bersih 2.0 walk please, and get the international bodies involved.

Lim Chong Leong: The amendments put a cloak of secrecy on, and is inconsistent with, open and free elections of the democratic process. The amendments are yet another step to curb our democratic rights. This is Umno's evil that must be stopped.


DAP: BN opiates citizens to hide its sins

Swipenter: Corruption robs the wealth of a nation not unlike how drugs rob a person of self-worth and self-dignity (and his/her money too). Hundreds of billions of corrupt money has left our shores and are stashed in foreign banks, recycled and ‘washed white' by buying overseas properties, gold and diamonds, etc.

By the way, what happened to Bank Negara's investigation into the illicit outflows?

2cts Worth: In a similar vein, PM, once you take bribe you can't kick the habit. You would want a heavier dose each time you have it.

Lim Chong Leong: NEP is the real opium to the Malays. What was called economic ‘crutches' actually crippled the Malays. Now they can't be weaned off the NEP without big hoohah about crusades and spilling blood.

Look at the real picture. There is no ‘ketuanan', just a bunch of miserable self-pitying lot blaming the ‘others'. Umno has done all this and it is time to ‘bangkit' (rise) from the ashes, not Utusan Malaysia's or Perkasa's way but by acquiring actual skills and knowledge and not by quotas and toilet-paper degrees issued by local universities.


DPM says next GE to be 'most challenging' for BN

Cala: Deputy PM Muhyiddin Yassin got it all wrong. If leaders do not align people's interests as their interest, the former will be booted out. Remember those who have the hearts of the masses have the kingdom. From now on, stop cronyism practices. Disband IPPs. Bring back competitive tenders.

Mt KK: We hear you loud and clear but Muhyiddin is talking without taking real actions in implementating policies - especially on concepts of 1Malaysia - where results can be seen.

What is Umno doing about those acts with racial overtones? Will the public be convinced that a good government is in place? Does BN deserve more votes to get a two-thirds majority?

If the current governing party is not careful about events that are happening and going about the same old ways, BN may even become an opposition party by next GE.

Chandran Sukumaran: With what's happening in the country today, I doubt whether there will be a GE13. I think Umno will create a situation and call for emergency rule.

Cannon: Umno is arrogant because it has not been humbled by defeat. It does not know how to lead because the party has not been taught to come down to the electorate. A term on the opposition bench will do Umno a lot of good, that is, provided it is still able to get up on its feet.

Patriot: In the coming general election, Malaysians should do what the Taiwanese did to the Kuomintang party. They kicked them out and after 10 years they were returned to power. In short, we need a two-party system to ensure better governance.

James Dean: Yes. the coming GE will be very challenging for both you and PM Najib Razak. If BN does well you will be a goner, but if BN does not do well, Najib can kiss the PM's post goodbye.

FellowMalaysian: If Lynas is willing to ship the raw material 2,500 miles from Australia to Gebeng, the question is why are they willing to factor into their cost of production this additional transportation if they could do it free had their own country allowed them to do so?

Why are our ministers (including the PM) avoid addressing the real issues, such as concerns over radioactive radiation hazards? It is shocking to note that China is threatening the rest of the world that they will stop mining for such minerals due to similar concerns. And here comes our hero, Najib and his coterie, offering to 'save' the rest of the world, and needless to say, at the expense of its own people breathing in toxic and radioactive tainted air.

This is a fine example of what the '1Malaysia' government is capable of doing.
