All candidates in the 10th Sarawak state legislative assembly election are reminded to submit their statement and election expenses before May 30.

Deputy director of the Sarawak Election Commission, Wan Fadillah Wan Ahmad, said the results of the Sarawak state legislative assembly election results had been gazetted on April 29.

“In line with the Election Offences Act 1954, Section 23 (Act 5), the Election Statement and Expense Account of the candidates must be submitted to the Sarawak Election Office within 31 days of the date the results are gazetted.

“The deadline for returning the statement of accounts is May 31, this year,” he said in a statement in Kuching today.

Wan Fadillah said the statement of expenditure must be declared by the candidates by completing the form B (Statement Together With Election Expenditure), form C and form D.
    
He said the forms  could be obtained from the Sarawak EC office or the office of the returning officer.

“The completed forms must be sent directly to the Sarawak EC office or through the returning officer of the centre where the candidate was contesting,” he said.

Meanwhile, Wan Fadillah said election petitions must be filed at the High Court within 21 days of the date the results were gazetted.

“The last day for filing the petition is May 20 this year,” he said.

On April 16, a total of 213 candidates, including 41 Independent candidates had been nominated to contest in all the 71 state assembly seats.

The Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN) won in 55 seats while the DAP (12 seats), Parti Keadilan Rakyat (three) and Independent candidates (one seat).
