PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim today clarified that Pakatan Rakyat's shadow cabinet line up in Sarawak has not been finalised.

Anwar said that the reported 16-member line up announced by DAP on May 1 was merely the latter's proposal.

"The consensus must come from negotiations at the state and central level. We are still discussing that.

"It is a proposal by the DAP and they have to consult with Sarawak PAS and PKR to (form a) consensus," he said, after the Pakatan leadership council meeting in Petaling Jaya.

According to Bernama, Sarawak DAP chief Wong Ho Leng said that the 16-member shadow cabinet would come into effect on May 1.

Wong's list includes Ba'Kelalan state assemblyperson Baru Bian, Krian state assemblyperson Ali Biju and Sarawak PAS chief Adam Ahid, who failed to win a seat in the April 16 state polls.

Baru, who is also PKR state chief, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and DAP vice-chairperson Dr Tan Seng Giaw were present at the press conference.

On a separate matter, Anwar said that Pakatan is confident of PAS’ loyalty to the coalition, despite a renewed call by Umno for the Islamic party to join the BN.

Referring to a statement by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang recently, Anwar said that PAS has informed the coalition of its stance.

“The Umno proposal... shows that they are quite desperate. We have full confidence and trust in the PAS leadership. The issue does not arise,” he said to agreement by Hadi and PAS secretary general Mustafa Ali who were also present.

Anwar: It's a non-issue

The Pakatan leaders also commented on the offer by businessman Shazryl Eskay Abdullah to take a polygraph test to prove he is telling the truth in alleging that Anwar is the man in the sex video.

Anwar, who appeared evasive, said that it was a “non-issue”, while Hadi said that they are more interested in “governing a nation and not on the issues of individuals”.

Eskay, former Malacca chief minister Rahim Thamby Chik and former Perkasa treasurer Shuib Lazim screened the video to journalists on March 21.

NONEEskay last Friday also took a religious oath (sumpah laknat) to prove that he is telling the truth.

“He took the oath while holding the al-Quran but he does not follow what is stated in the al-Quran. (The oath) is not valid,” Hadi said.

The coalition leaders also reaffirmed their stance that they are ready to face snap polls, and expect it to be called this year.

“We have agreed to have a leadership meeting in two weeks to discuss the strategy for the upcoming general election.

“The meeting is specifically to discuss common policies and strengthen our relationship in the wake of BN’s efforts to plant doubts on this matter,” Anwar said.
