The PKR party machinery is preparing to face snap polls that the party expects will come soon around the second half of this year.

NONE “We are prepared for July. We expect it to be early,” said party vice-president Tian Chua ( right ) when contacted after the party’s regular monthly supreme council meeting at the party’s Petaling Jaya headquarters today.

He said that in the meeting that de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim chaired, party big-wigs discussed the preparations needed to face upcoming snap polls.

Chua said the agenda included a serious post-mortem of PKR’s performance in the recent Sarawak state election that saw the party losing all but three of the 49 seats they had contested.

“We got down to work, and really evaluated ourselves,” he said.

During the Sarawak election on Apr 16 PKR only managed to win in Batu Lintang, Ba'Kelalan and Krian, while they lost the urban seat of Senadin by a narrow margin.

The reformist party had been criticised for biting off more than it could chew, but Sarawak PKR chief Baru Bian later responded that they had wanted to ensure that no BN seat went uncontested.

The Batu MP further related that the meeting also talked about recent political developments.
