Kedah Perkasa has 'nothing to do' with 1Bumi plan

Kedah Perkasa chief Syed Osman Mansor (left) said no activity is scheduled in line with the proposed movement.
"We have nothing to do with it. There is no special programme for it. We will only focus on Kedah Perkasa Malay rally," he said when contacted today.
Bernama had reported yesterday that the rally will be held in Alor Setar - following similar events in Kelantan and Perak - to demonstrate Malay unity. The two-day affair at Stadium Sultan Abdul Halim Shah is expected to attract 30,000 people.
The report quoted Syed Osman as saying that Perkasa will launch the '1Malay 1Bumi' movement on Saturday.
"That is not right. It was a question posed to me by the reporter," he explained, but declined to state his stance on the movement as he is not clear about what it entails.
The '1Malay, 1Bumi' movement was mooted by Utusan columnist Zaini Hassan as a means of uniting Malays. He said the DAP had been able to united the Chinese politically during the Sarawak election campaign earlier this month.
Trade expo lure
Syed Osman confirmed that former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is also Perkasa patron, will deliver the keynote address on Saturday, entitled ‘Malay unity is the foundation of Malaysian unity’.
Perkasa president and Pasir Mas MP Ibrahim Ali will also attend the rally.
However Kedah Mentri Besar Azizan Razak will not be present because he has other commitments. 
Syed Osman said a Malay trade expo will be held concurrently to attract more people to the rally.
Dozens of Malay entrepreneurs will showcase their products and services.
Perkasa has been leveraging on popular events, including a trade expo and even a motor show, to recruit members and draw in the crowd.
Early this year, it registered more than 10,000 young members in its rally dubbed ‘Perhimpunan Wira Negara Revolusi’, held concurrently with the 11th National Scooter Meet organised by sports promoter MUSC Motorsports.
