MACC probing DAP for using their brains?
I can't believe MACC's testimony at the RCI this week. They should be probing politicians for accepting money (bribes) from contractors, but paying them in advance for jobs done? Come on, give us a break, the rakyat are not that stupid
They are splitting hairs with the DAP probe, because they paid the contractor in advance? Sure, it may not be common procedure in the civil service, especially since no one would want to fork out their own money for public work. Bill the government lah, why pay?
In the private sector, Ean Yong's team would get a big pat on the back for using their initiative to speed up the public works and not let red tape hold back work that would get the residents complaining about speed of action.
However, in our country, where such tardiness is endemic and even a way of life, DAP's actions are now being scrutinised for alleged wrongdoing? Come on. And over a few thousand dollars.
What about millions paid for ‘admin fees’ to companies related to high ranking politicians? Why isn't MACC going after them, and people like Taib who has had so many reports official and unofficial lodged against him?
Why not use the ‘Teoh Beng Hock Method’ to go after them? After all, with MACC's new ruling of having interrogations made on the ground floor, there will be no worry of these precious politicians jumping out the window and plunging to their ‘sudden deaths’.
Sure, DAP may not have gone by the book, but let's look at the broader picture; is our civil service pristine and well-run in the first place? In countries like in northern Europe and elsewhere where procedures are followed meticulously, one may have a bone to pick with DAP over their short-cuts.
But our government departments are already shoddy and lack transparency, so why the sudden sanctimony in dealing with kuching kurap contracts by DAP?
Besides, it looks probable that the DAP reps were trying their best to get the works completed speedily in the residents' interest. That's far better than what BN councillors and reps have done in the past 50 years.
And pressing the point about the ‘ali baba’ companies, please. BN literally invented the ali baba culture and lives by it, and it is rife across the country. Don't be hypocrites. You may be able to fool some people who live on mainstream news, but just go to any coffeeshop and hear the talk.
It doesn't only happen to bumi contractors, last year some proprietors had complained to me that for the Brickfields upgrading, contracts reserved for Indians were later subcontracted out to all and sundry.
MIC helping the Indians? It's evident they just helped themselves.
So don't give us such nonsense at the RCI, go after the MACC director who was hanging around at 5pm. Or take another reader's advice, put the whole lot under the lie detector rather than stress out Teoh's family over silly psychological tests. This whole thing may have been settled months ago.
