Shuib Lazim, one of the ‘Datuk T’ trio, said it would be unfair of the police to charge him with distributing the sex video involving a man  resembling a top opposition leader.

"We have not distributed it to the public. We only showed it to several reporters. The reporters will be the witnesses (to the showing of the video).

"If we had intended to distribute it, we would have made 10,000 copies. Then it would be considered distributing. However, if the police think we have violated the law, we will face the repercussions,” said Shuib, the former Perkasa treasurer-general.

Other members of the ‘Datuk T’ trio are businessperson Shazryl Eskay Abdullah and former Malacca chief minister Rahim Thamby Chik.

azlanShuib was asked to comment on a statement by the police yesterday that the trio could face charges for distributing and showing obscene material.
       
Federal police CID deputy director Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said the trio could be charged as it is an offence to screen or distribute pornographic material, under Section 292 of the Penal Code.

Under Section 292, a person found guilty is liable to face three years’ jail or a fine or both.

The 22-minute sex video shows a man who looks like Anwar Ibrahim having sex with a woman.

Anwar has denied that he is the man in the video and has lodged a police report.

‘Video was made here’

Shuib also confirmed that the short video which was leaked over the Internet earlier this month is part of the 22-minute video.

However, he does not know how it had made its way to the Internet, as the original recording and a copy of it were surrendered to the police.

“There is the original recording, and we had given a copy that we have. All of them had been seized by the police. Why show a little, (show the whole recording),” he said jokingly.

He expressed shock as to how the video could have been leaked online and denied any knowledge as to the Thai writing below the image on the short clip.

“All of it was made here,” he said in denying the recording originated from Thailand.

He urged the police to conduct DNA tests on the Omega watch which was retrieved from the location.

The police, Shuib said, should have conducted DNA tests on the watch as who knows samples can be retrieved.

The short clip was leaked online on April 4 before it was removed the next day.

Rahim and Eskay had denied any knowledge over the leaked video when approached by Malaysiakini.
