A British tourist who was swept away by strong currents in a river in Kelantan has been found drowned, police said Sunday.

The body of 30-year-old Rabi Wit Wit, an Iraqi-born British citizen, was found Saturday at the Stong Mountain Waterfalls, district police chief Adnan Alwi was quoted as saying by the Bernama news agency.

He had been reported missing after he was swept away by strong currents while attempting to cross a river.

His body was found floating in waters three metres (10 feet) deep, Adnan said.

Rabi Wit Wit was visiting Stong Mountain with a Malaysian friend after entering Malaysia on June 25.

The Stong Mountain Waterfalls are among the highest waterfalls in Southeast Asia at 240 metres, Bernama said. - AFP
