Muhyiddin: Why 'change' when BN can 'transform'

Onyourtoes: Since when Malay-first DPM Muhyiddin Yassin has become so "intellectual" trying to tell us transformation is different and more profound than change. Yes, of course we can all transform - from prince charming to a frog.

If the government has transformed and if the people have benefitted, may I know why there is so much dissatisfaction and frustration among many people. Have you ever noticed the more the government talks about transformation, the more it stays the same or even degenerates?

The GTP (Government Transformation Programme) means more posts, more promotions, more perks and more allocations for travelling, seminaring, workshops and more wastage. That is the only thing I can see so far of GTP.

As for the ETP (Economic Transformation Programme), what I see is the same old distortions, cronyism and inefficiency everywhere, especially among the GLCs (government-linked companies), privatised entities and monopolies.

Pakman: Muhyiddin, BN transformation since 44 years has made Malaysia further behind other nations in Asia. Our per capita income has shrunk and our economy has not performed well compare to our neighbours despite their lack of natural resources.

Most Pakatan states government are able to balance their budget and achieve surplus with enough fund to uplift the social economy of the poor within three years of their rule.

Just imagine how much more benefits would flow to the rakyat if Pakatan were to rule Malaysia. Change we must, in order to transform Malaysian governance holistically.

1malaysia_2ed9: DPM is right, BN has indeed transformed. Under TDM (Mahathir Mohamad), the country has been transformed into one that is systematically corrupt. The government introduced "negotiated tender" and as a result, contracts are given to Umno and crony companies.

The nation pay many times the cost for development and goods which were sub-standard and in many instances, the government has to come to the rescue with many more millions of ringgits lost. With this type of leadership by example, you find that corruption has become a norm in all walks of life including vote-buying within Umno.

Just look at the recent arrest and discovery of corruption in the Customs? It is made to look like corruption happens only in lower level of the government. What about the big fishes? Submarine deals? APs (approved permits)? Taib Mahmud's global business empire and the list goes on.

No wonder we have fallen so far behind Singapore. Can the DPM tell us if he has a plan to clean up all these? He has no answers, so it's better for us to change.

ChangeSrwk: Muhyiddin, for the past 50 over years, what have you transformed? Don't tell us we Sarawakians are stupid. We are new breed of Sarawakians, able to differentiate between glass and diamond, and able to know whether you lie or not.

Xtcher: And why not change? After all, if the pillar supporting the roof in a house is infested and attacked by the termites of corruption, it will be a waste of time, effort and money to allow it to be transformed into a decorative totem pole.

If the pillar is rotten at the core and will eventually cause the roof of the house to collapse, it is better for the house owner (the rakyat) to change the pillar with a new and better one.


Najib ready to meet Customs unions over graft probe

Nama Apa: The loss of a precious life is regrettable. But Customs Officers Union president Ibrahim Ahmad has made a mockery of the Customs folks when he declared that they are for the BN.

Is this a testimony that being supportive of BN is an immunity against corruption? Or is it an SOS when the department is raided by MACC and Inland Revenue Board?

Well, this time for Customs, whether they are for BN or otherwise, they are being made a scapegoat for the huge sums of illicit money leaving the country.

Anonymous_3e79: This is institutionalised corruption. The union demands that they be left to continue their wicked ways. Corruption is indeed a Malaysia way of life. That's what the union seeks to protect.

Dhammika: Ibrahim, please be patient. The Customs Department is not alone. The PDRM, Immigration, JPJ (Transport Department) and Puspakom will be your companions.

All you need to say to the PM to clear the Customs' image is, "You help us ,we will help".

P Dev Anand Pillai: Isn't this a clear indication that the slogan 'BN mampu berubah' (BN can change) is nothing but another piece of crap by the Umno-BN government to continue to make fools out of the people?

Why in the first place must the Customs Union meet the PM? Shouldn't the MACC be allowed to do its job? Is it because the ultimate boss of the MACC is the PM? So if the boss is met, the investigation will stop?

It just goes to show how deep and entrenched corruption is in the system. They can't live without it! As the cost of living gets higher, the tighter they will squeeze the masses for more money via corruption to maintain their rich lifestyles.

The problem with some Malays who only believe that non-Malays are the threat when in reality it is their own kind. They know to use 'amok' to spook the non-Malays, but they don't know how to 'revolt' to stop their own from milking them dry.

Fence Sitter: Ibrahim Ahmad, what do you expect the PM to tell you? Sorry and case closed? Malaysians expect the law of the country to take its course. If you are not wrong, then you do not have to worry.
