Customs wants to meet PM to clear RM108b graft charge

Onyourtoes: As I have suspected all along, the Customs will use the unfortunate death of Ahmad Sarbani Mohamed as an excuse for MACC to call off the investigation into the alleged corruption in the department.

I rarely supported de facto law minister Nazri Abdul Aziz, but I think it makes sense to me that investigation must be carried out to its fruitful conclusion. It does not matter it is RM108 billion or RM108 million. For too long corruption in the country has been allowed to spread and the relevant authorities have largely closed two eyes to what is going on.

Of course, the death of state Customs assistant director Ahmad Sarbani Mohamed must also be investigated to ensure that no foul play was involved. May be the death and the call-off of further investigation is exactly what the syndicate wants.

Malaysiawatch4.blogspot: What next? The Loan Sharks Union too will want to meet the PM to discuss their business problems. Let the police and MACC probe the Customs if their officers are involved in nefarious activities.

Vijay47: This is a very interesting statement by Ibrahim, "...that Customs staff have been BN supporters all this while." What is that supposed to mean? That they have been corrupt just like the rest of the BN bunch and as such, no action must be taken against them?

That if action is taken against them (remember the threat by the police of what they would do if they were investigated?) they will all support Pakatan Rakyat?

Pemerhati: Customs union president Ibrahim wants to meet PM Najib Razak to clear the department's name. Relatively speaking compared to Mahathir Mohamad, Najib and the other top Umnoputras, the gold bars and the millions stolen by several Customs officers are just peanuts compared to the billions stolen by the Umnoputras.

But Najib has a problem. He needs a lot of money for the coming elections and he thinks by taking action against the Customs officers he would be killing two birds. Firstly, he would create the illusion that he is serious about fighting corruption and secondly, he could use the money collected for the elections and the large number of new Rela members he is planning to recruit.

The votes from these new Rela members would more than compensate for the loss of votes from the unhappy Customs officers. Similar action cannot be taken against the corrupt police and the judiciary as they, unlike the Customs officers, are required to harass and legally punish the opposition on trumped up charges.

ONG: Supposing, just supposing, the decimal point is in the wrong place and the loss is closer to RM10.8 billion, rather than RM108 billion, we are still talking losses in the billions.

When Union president Ibrahim Ahmad confirmed that the Customs staff "have been BN supporters all this while", that to me is confirmation that Customs staff have been corrupt all this while.

Pants On Wire: We can therefore conclude if Custom officers are BN supporters then graft and corruption can be excused. This only confirm what we all already know - if you want to be corrupt, join BN. BN will cover your ass, and along the way you can siphon the rakyat money. Just share some of the illegal loot with BN.

Malaysians Are Not Stupid: Well, the government is trying to find a scapegoat for the reported billions of illegal funds transferred out of the country in a recent international report where Malaysia is listed among the world's top five country for illegal transfer of funds out of the country.

Guess the whole world knows who are the real culprits who are responsible for this massive transfer of funds illegally out of the country. It should read like who's who in the BN-led government. That's why scapegoats are needed.

Mohd Yassin: Why meet the PM? Clear your name through the courts. After all, we have one of the best judiciaries in the world.


Outraged women tell Ibrahim they're no 'sex toy'

Anonymous_3eac: I was at a pre-marital course for Muslim couples very recently, and we were repeatedly told that women must be held in the highest of respect.

The issue of husbands demanding sex was brought up and we were told that it is the right of the wife to say ‘no'. The men in the classroom were also repeatedly reminded that they cannot simply demand sex as and when they like, and to be understanding.

Maybe Ibrahim Ali should go attend one of these courses.

Malaysian Born: The really sad part is that almost entirely all the reaction to Ibrahim Ali's low-grade comments seems to be coming from non-Malay and non-Muslim women. To really put him in his place, it is the Malay and Muslim women that need to address his comments.

He is using religion and his interpretation to make a mockery of marriage and the dignity of women. The fact that he equates men to dirty mongrels without any self-control is also quite insulting.

According to him, the reason that men have extramarital affairs is that women don't drop on their backs immediately for sex when their husbands get home. He uses this argument to justify men having affairs and visiting prostitutes.

Well, we certainly know what this man does with his free time.
