BN backbencher chides ruling coalition

“Indah khabar dari rupa (more promises than substance)... the bumiputera equity in Sabah is zero, zero,” said the MP, prior to asking the point of agencies like Peneraju Agenda Bumiputera (Teraju) if the bumiputeras were still economically sidelined.
He challenged Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department SK Devamany to name two bumiputeras from Sabah who have succeeded economically.
“Despite it being over 40 years since Sabah joined Malaysia, there is no successful bumiputera from Sabah. We want there to be at least two successful bumiputeras in business,” said Abdul Ghafur.
Devamany (left) however deflected the claim by saying, “Saya tak pernah menanam tebu di bibir” (I never made any sweet promises).
He said there were successful people from Sabah but as there were too many, he could not just pull their names out of a hat on the spot.
At the time Mahfuz Omar (PAS-Pokok Sena) cheekily interjected and said, “Musa Aman and Taib Mahmud, 1Sabah, 1Sarawak”.
The deputy minister was answering an oral question from Mahfuz on the justification for the formation of Teraju, when Abdul Ghapur asked the supplementary question.
‘Govt can’t guarantee low RON95 price’
Meanwhile, Deputy Finance Minister Donald Lim said the government could not guarantee that there would be no price hike for the RON95 fuel.
“The price of oil has risen to a high of US$108 a barrel. No government in the world can guarantee what you want me to promise,” Lim said in answer to a supplementary question from Salahuddin Ayub (PAS-Kubang Krian).
Salahuddin had asked if the government could guarantee that the price of RON95 fuel would not be increased as had happened with RON97, which has gone up to an all-time high of RM2.70 a litre.
