Pakatan MPs today defended opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim in the face of a recently leaked snippet of his alleged sex video online, saying they do not believe he is the towel-clad man in the video clip.

NONE Azan Ismail (PKR-Indera Mahkota) ( right ) said he was not shocked by the leaked video clip, but questioned the reason of those responsible for posting it online.

"I expected worse," he added. "If you take the dramatic angle, they want people to think that it is him. But why is the video in black and white? You can't even tell who it is," he said after journalists showed him the video in the Parliament lobby.

Mahfuz Omar (PAS-Pokok Sena) also did not believe that Anwar is the person accused to be the towel-clad man in the video, saying that a person who does something bad, will not do it in front of others.

Commenting on the authenticity of the video, he used the example of a movie on Ghandi which had an actor who "looks like Gandhi but is not Gandhi".

"I don't believe it is Anwar. It is not about the authenticity of the video, but the authenticity of the character in the video," said Mahfuz, who is also PAS vice-president.

The DAP deputy chairperson said he has not seen the video, but does not see how he has much of a choice in the matter now that a snippet is online.

"What is so funny about two persons having sex? If you put it online, millions of children, five, six, seven years old, will look at it? Would you let your children watch it?"

When answered in the negative, he said; "then that answers everything."

Parliament broadband jammed up

A snippet of the alleged sex video - a little under two minutes long - was posted online earlier this afternoon, available both on YouTube and an anti-PKR blog site.

The black and white video clip showed two men and a woman in what appears to be a hotel room. One man was fully clothed, while the other was clad in a towel.

The woman was wearing a dress at the beginning of the clip, which appeared to have been edited, but later was seen wearing just a towel.

ronald kiandee Later in the day, backbenchers complained of Parliament's broadband jamming up not long after word got round that the video clip was up, with even deputy Speaker Ronald Kiandee ( right ) tweeting that "Betui2 bb parlimen jammed" (Parliament's broadband is really jammed).

Abdul Rahman Dahlan (BN-Kota Belud) tweeted that there was "another energy" taking the focus away from the Renewable Energy Bill that was being debated in Parliament.

He also tweeted; "Apparently even with the blazing speed of an iPAD2, @Khairykj has difficulties to access certain video site."

Khairy Jamaluddin (BN-Rembau) had tweeted; "I don't watch smut. Even with Parliamentary immunity," in response to an earlier tweet from Abdul Rahman.
