'Two-thirds S'gor election promises fulfilled'

Sidestepping accusations from the BN opposition that it failed to live-up to voter expectations, the Pakatan-led Selangor government claims that it has fulfilled most of its election promises.

"A term is five years, and in that term the state government will fulfill our (election) manifesto in stages," said Women Affairs, Science, Technology and Innovation exco, Rodziah Ismail (right) while rounding up the debate on the Sultan's address in the ongoing state assembly seating.
She explained that the government has already implemented 17 out of the 25 promises in the manifesto in its three year reign, and is sure that it will implement the rest in the remaining two years.
All told she recounted that the state has given back nearly RM380 million to the Rakyat in the three years the party has been in power.
This, she said is in contrast to the mere RM1.182 million handed out by the former BN state administration in 2007, despite spending a massive RM1.15 billion in the same year.
She was answering allegations by state opposition leader Mohamed Satim Diman (BN-Seri Serdang) made in the house last week, that the government has failed the voters by not delivering on their election promises.
Rodziah who is also Batu Tiga assemblyperson hit out at Mohamad Satim, adding that there are other promises still in the process of being delivered and plans still waiting to take effect.
She said that the Pakatan government is not like the BN administration, which would implement ad-hoc plans as it dreamt them up without proper planning.
Assemblypersons from both sides of the state assembly aisles has been trading barbs ever since the start of the state assembly seating, with BN politicians zeroing in on recent corruption unearthed in state-owned companies and purportedly unfulfilled Pakatan election manifesto.
