The Star and News Straits Times both led with Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak stating that government will be doing its best to ensure the success of the Government Transformation Programme (GTP) in the coming years.

Both Utusan Malaysia and Berita Harian frontpaged the success of the GTP as including several factors - the crime index has dropped by 15 percent, public confidence has increased in the fight against corruption, the pre-school programme has benefited 700,000 children, and there has been a whopping 99.8 percent decline in poverty.

Chinese newspapers

China Press reported that the Transport Ministry has postponed the move to blacklist those with unpaid traffic summons, especially those issued before Feb 1 this year.

Nanyang Siang Pau highlighted an interview with chief operating officer of Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) who said the Multimedia Super Corridor mega-project has contributed RM35.73 billion to the GDP.

Sin Chew Daily led with the announcement by Home Ministry secretary-general Mahmood Adam that from March 1, citizens who lose their Mykad and passport are only required to lodge a report with the National Registration Department and apply for new document.

New Straits Times commented that the ‘blue ocean strategy’, announced by Najib to beat crime, has leveraged on untapped resources and potential such as mobilising soldiers to replace the police in patrolling borders; training police personnel in under-used army training centres; and rehabilitating petty criminals in military camps.
 
Utusan Malaysia commented on the first GTP report has crushed doubts and distrust in the government. The GTP was launched to improve the public service delivery system and to reduce problems faced by the people when dealing with the government.

China Press welcomed the government's decision to allow graduates from Chinese independent high schools to apply for places in teacher training colleges with their SPM qualification.

Nanyang Siang Pau commented that after the setback suffered by BN in the 2008 general election, now is the golden time for the Chinese community to demand Chinese education rights. Therefore MCA and Dong Jiao Zong should work together and grab this opportunity.

Sin Chew Daily urged the government to fully recognise the United Examination Certificate of Chinese independent schools and also to solve the long-standing problem of insufficient teachers in Chinese schools.
