Nazri: Don't kill messenger 'Datuk T'

Pemerhati: 'Commenting on the screening of the sex video at a hotel yesterday, the de facto law minister insisted that it was not illegal for the people behind this to show the video to journalists and editors.'

As everyone is equal under the law, what the law minister is saying is that it is okay and not illegal for anyone to call up a group of people and watch a pornographic video. Does it mean that from now on Malaysians who can get hold of Dr Chua Soi Lek's pornographic VCD can call up their friends and watch the MCA chief in action?

It looks like the police must have made a serious blunder when they warned everyone that it was an offence to have possession of Chua's pornographic VCD. In view of his latest pronouncement, the de facto law minister should ensure that this serious mistake made by the police is rectified.

Rajakera: Why not kill the messenger if that is the way to find out for who he is carrying the message for. And why is this mysterious ‘Datuk T' not being arrested for displaying/screening 'blue' film? Why has he got immunity? Who is/are the 'powerful' people behind him who are protecting him?

Gerard Samuel Vijayan: The statement confirms the idiocy of minister Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz. Please read Section 5(b) of the Film Censors Act 2002 and Section 292 of the Penal Code before shooting off your big and obviously stupid mouth.

The public or private screening of any sex film is an offence which carries a fine or term of imprisonment or both. The management of Carcosa Seri Negara (which is under a GLC) can also be charged for aiding, abetting or procuring the offence.

Anwar made the denial after the press informed him that the person featured in the film looked like him. Since public viewing of pornography is now permissible under Umno's interpretation of the law, Pakatan Rakyat should arrange a screening of Najib's alleged ‘sexcapades' with Altantuya and various other starlets from his past.

Nazri's statement only lends credence to rumours that Datuk T is an Umno member who was given the full blessings of the establishment to expose this sex film with the connivance of the Umno press and Special Branch simply to demonise Anwar since Sodomy II is a failure.

Joker: A blogger was just a 'messenger' when he published an article in his blog about Rais Yatim's maid adventure but the blogger was hauled up. RPK (Raja Petra Kamarudin) was just a messenger when he blogged about allegations of corruption and murder but he was ISA-ed. A newspaper journalist reported about a racist comment from a racist Umno MP but she was ISA-ed 'for her protection'.

Now someone actually invited a group of people for a porn show, but the 'de facto' law minister says it was not a crime? And that we should not be diverted from the 'central issue at hand'? This law minister even said that he was not sure if it was an offence even if the porn show was done to make money.

Wow! I didn't know that showing porn is not a crime and showing porn for profit is a grey area under law and requires a court to determine its legality. So kissing, hugging and even sexual scenes can be shown in movies from now on?

Anonymous_3e86: What a stupid minister. Anyone who has such a ‘blue video' must hand it to the police. It must not be screened in public or to the press. It is for the police to decide the next course of action. Remember the case of Dr Chua Soi Lek (CSL)? The public was warned to surrender any VCD of CSL. This is truly double standards by the BN government.

Abil: Nazri, I would like ask you a question since you are the de facto law minister. If a couple having sex in a hotel room is videotaped without their knowledge and shown to select crowd for fun, it is legal as per your explanation. So the messenger is doing a service to mankind? What about invasion of privacy?

Lover Boy: Nazri, I am saddened by your statement that showing of pornography without collecting money is alright, and by that I suppose it is legal. Nazri, let me tell you it is illegal and against our law.

Why I am saddened by your comments is you are a lawyer by training and have been admitted as a member of the Bar of Lincoln Inn. I can fully understand that as a minister in the Prime Minister's Department you have to stand by the government, but surely not to the extend of making such an idiotic statement.

Please reflect on your statement. I am sure you have a brain and at least some sense of fairness. Nazri, if I am on the bench of Lincoln Inn I will move that your admission to the Bar of England and Wales be stuck off on ground of being blatantly and obviously idiotic.

All Lincoln Inn members in this country are embarrassed and I am sure Gopal Sri Ram, the chairperson of the Lincoln Inn alumni, does not know where to put his face.

Changeagent: Nazri, here is the dilemma for the government. Datuk T has stated outright that he has no intentions to hand over any sex clip to the police at all. Does this mean that he is in clear breach of Section 292 of the Penal Code which prohibits the possession or screening of any form of pornographic material? Or are you suggesting a new exemption for journalists and editors to view pornography as long as the screening is not done to make money?

While you are at it, why not also make it legal for BN parliamentarians to watch porn in Parliament House? This way, you and your colleagues can watch to your hearts' content without fear of breaching the law or police arrests.

SKS: Nazri, is not ‘Datuk T' blackmailing the individual into quitting politics? Is this not a crime? I am not a lawyer but I think it is a crime to blackmail someone to do something against their will, especially with a sex video.

Nicholas Lim: Nazri, you are a lying piece of sob. You said you know Datuk T has all intentions to report the matter to the police, and yet he has not done so. He has also publicly stated that he will not hand over the video to the police. There is a saying, baling batu sembunyi tangan.

Rosmin Shahril: It is an offence under the Malaysian law to possess, circulate and display pornographic material to the public. ‘Datuk T' should be charged unless the authorities are not bothered and do not respect the law. The way things are done in this country, it looks like we are moving towards a lawless, dysfunctional country.

Dood: Don't kill the messenger? I wonder what that Sin Chew reporter - who was detained under ISA along with Seputeh MP Teresa Kok a while back for merely writing about news - has to say about this.
