Parti Kesejahteraan Insan Tanah Air (Kita) president Zaid Ibrahim lodged a police report today, claiming that DAP chairman Karpal Singh had threatened him following his statement urging Anwar Ibrahim to provide his DNA samples.

Zaid, accompanied by several supporters, lodged the report at Kota Baharu police stations this morning.

Speaking to reporters, Zaid said the statement by Karpal Singh, published in several news portals, contained "serious threats to my safety."

Karpal had issued a statement on Wednesday warning former Pakatan Rakyat colleague Zaid that his recent remarks over the Sodomy II could be in contempt of court.

“As Anwar's defence counsel, I am warning all quarters, including politicians, not to defy Justice Mohamed Zabidin's (Mohd Diah) reminder that anyone committing an act of contempt in the ongoing trial will face the music," said Karpal.

“Any act by anyone, however, subtle, to influence the decision of a judge in an ongoing trial amounts to contempt of court."
