Malacca CM: Help will come only if BN wins

Echoing Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's infamous 'I help you, you help me' by-election approach, Malacca Chief Minister Mohd Ali Rustam today told a group representing the Malacca Chinese that he will only accede to their demands if BN wins the Merlimau by-election.
Echoing Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's infamous 'I help you, you help me' by-election approach, Malacca Chief Minister Mohd Ali Rustam (below, on the left) today told a group representing the Malacca Chinese that he will only accede to their demands if BN wins the Merlimau by-election.
"OK, we will help, when we win, then we’ll talk," he said before leaving with the nomination centre with BN candidate Roslan Ahmad this morning.
He said this to Malacca Chinese Education Progressive Association’s Yang Ying Chong the latter presented the CM with the 'Melaka Merlimau by-election Suqiu' after the nominations this morning.
The community group demands that vernacular, independent Chinese schools and community Islamic schools be awarded the same benefits as national schools, that is to receive subsidies, student aid and certification for admission to public universities and civil service.
They are also demanding that the government reinstate the citizenship of now deceased activist Lim Lian Geok and to acknowledge him as a national patriot.
A teacher in Confucian Chinese School from 1935 to 1961, Lim's citizenship and his teaching licence was revoked in 1961 due to his strong opposition to the 1960 Rahman Talib Report and 1961 Education Act that required all secondary schools to teach in either English or Malay.
Pakatan ‘stupid’ and ‘liars'
Meanwhile, Mohd Ali denied that he had said that the Malacca government will only assist Malacca students, who were evacuated from Egypt last month to return to the North African country, only if Roslan Ahmad wins.
Both PKR secretary general Saifuddin Nasution and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang (right) had in their speeches alluded to this, during the announcement of the PAS candidate Yuhaizad Abdullah on Thursday.
The Pakatan Rakyat leaders said that the chief minister had said so at an event at Politeknik Merlimau.
"(Pakatan) and Malaysiakini like to tell lies. I didn't say it. PKR and PAS, ever since they started being friends with DAP always like to lie.
"PAS is stupid. They say Merlimau has an influx of projects, but they've never been to Merlimau before so they didn't know that these are old projects. They come with their eyes closed.
"We pave the roads every year in the beginning of the year if they don't want to use the roads, they can go through the bushes," he added.
