Chemist Dr Seah Lay Hong today testified at the Kuala Lumpur High Court that she found seminal stains on alleged victim Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan’s grey underwear and black trousers.

She said for the black trousers they were found near the front zip area and on the bottom portion.

Similarly for the grey underwear, Seah, who heads the Serious Crime Unit of the Chemistry Department, said they were found on the front and the bottom portion.

NONEAnother dark blue underwear, two long-sleeved (a blue-and-white and a green) shirts were tendered as evidence.

Besides this a carpet and a duvet believed to be retrieved from the Desa Damansara condominium were also tendered.

Seah (right) testified that no seminal stains or semen were found on the other items.

An unknown (pubic) hair was also retrieved and marked.

Seah also testified in reply to questions from DPP Noorin Badaruddin that she found semen stains on four cotton buds retrieved from the medical examination of Saiful conducted at Hospital Kuala Lumpur.

Checking on the envelope where the specimen were retrieved showed:

  • Cotton swab B5 which was marked P36 is peri-anal region.
  • Cotton swab B7 marked P38 label high rectal swab.
  • Cotton swab B8 marked P39 is labelled high rectal swab.
  • Cotton swab B9 marked P40 is labelled low rectal swab.
Minor victory for defence

Earlier, the defence team of Sankara Nair and Ram Karpal managed to gain a minor success when Judge Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah allowed the objection by Ram for the court not to accept the admission of a police application for a toxicology test as evidence.

DPP Noorin wanted to tender the police application form on the toxicology test by the Chemistry Department as evidence.

The form in question had some amendments which were not consistent with the documents handed to the defence during the pre-trial period.

This resulted in Ram objecting to its admission under section 51A of the Criminal Procedure Code.

After a short break, Justice Zabidin allowed the objection.
