Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak today denied the rumour that there will be a cabinet reshuffle soon.

“Who created the rumour?” asked Najib during a press conference at Parliament, laughing.

When further quizzed on the possibility of a cabinet reshuffle before the next general election, Najib gave a non-committal answer.

"A cabinet reshuffle can happen at any time. It may and it may not."

Speculation of a cabinet reshuffle intensified after news portal mStar Online yesterday published a report that said two deputy ministers would be elevated to ministers, while the head of a political party would be made a minister as well.

It even said that a statement was expected to be issued.

However national news agency Bernama later published a news report quoting a Najib aide that said there is no indication of a cabinet reshuffle.
