A female worker was rescued from seven years of living hell with her employer who broke her teeth with pliers, scalded her with boiling water and clipped clothes pegs on her private parts, a newspaper said today.

Tan Sow Hoon, 22, lodged a complaint with police after escaping earlier this week from the furniture factory with the help of a relative, the New Straits Times said.

Fed with salt

She complained of being kicked down the stairs several times, being tied up and made to stand all night in the bathroom, and fed salt when she was tired, the daily said.

Tan was not allowed to visit her family, has never received her monthly salary of RM200 and was told by her employer that the abuses were punishment for falling asleep on the job, it said.

Police were investigating the case which has been classified as causing grievous hurt. - AFP
