Gobala's move was expected, says Anwar

PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim said he had long expected that Padang Serai Member of Parliament N Gobalakrishnan would leave the party.
   
"He has left, it's alright. Let us continue," he said when asked to comment on Gobalakrishan's resignation from the party and relinquishing all posts that he was holding in the PKR yesterday.
   
He said this after attending a function in Shah Alam today.
   
He also said that Gobalakrishnan had previously not responded to a "show cause" letter sent to him by the party last month for criticising the top party leadership.
   
Anwar said he and the party had not received any official letter from Gobalakrishnan on his resignation, and party secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail had asked Gobalakrishnan to give clarification because he had merely announced his decision on the twitter yesterday.

He also said that Gobalakrishnan had not informed him of his intention and the last time that the PKR advisor had met him was in Parliament.

Meanwhile in Alor Setar, Kedah Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak said Gobalakrishnan's resignation would not affect the opposition pact in Kedah at all.

He said the resignation by Gobalakrishnan had long been expected because he probably had his own agenda.

"As an elected representative, if he does anything (leaving the party), the people may penalise him later," he told reporters at a Chinese New Year party at the Dewan Seri Mentaloon today.

"We are not shaken...in fact, we become stronger...they always attack us on television but we are not affected," he said.
