Harrisman: The penalty for making a false charge should be same as the crime on which the false charge is made. This is fair.

Under the European Charter of Human Rights, the penalty for a crime, in this case making a false report, should not be excessive but should be proportionate. Hence, the person making the false report should be subject to the same punishment. Only then, can there be a deterrent to those thinking of making a false report.

Mohbalas: Even the judges and magistrates practice double standards when it comes to cops being charged, especially in the amount of bail imposed or allowing easy bail terms.

Now we see how the rogue cop get away and I bet the efforts to nab him would be half-hearted at best. We have been all been calling for action against errant cops but it all falls on deaf ears.

The country has gone to the dogs. Look at the ‘Interlok' matter where the authorities cannot accept they have made a mistake. And look at the azan volume issue.

DontPlayGod: I agree with some of the comments. The police are on Umno's payroll, hence they feel they can do anything they want and get away with it.

Notice how, when Umno members make noisy protests, the police just stood by and no action is taken. If opposition members have protested, the police would have used brute force, fired tear gas and used chemical-laced water cannons.

Some arrests would also be made on the opposition members. But do we hear of any arrests of Umno members? Even if the police do arrest any Umno member, the police would soon release them when the ‘show' is over.

Moontime: The victim (Chia Buang Hing) is brave because he knows he is on the right side of law. "Berani kerana benar, takut kerana salah." Who's being a coward here?

News reports are full of horror stories of the police being unethical, bullying, harrassing the public and running foul of the law. It's no wonder that they vehemently oppose the setting up of IPCMC (Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission).

To the soon-to-be ex-policeman, be a man! Face up to your wrongdoing and admit that you're wrong. Why must you emulate the ruling party by running away and avoiding justice?

Curious Observer: Chia should hire some bodyguards to protect himself. In addition, please ensure that he writes a note saying that he neither has any suicidal tendencies nor that he likes to strangle himself.

Patriot: It always seems that any such reports about Malaysia is always exaggerated or something of a fairy tale. The authorities claim Malaysia's own figures are more accurate and always show an impressive standing. But most people do not believe them any more.

Don't be stupid, and don't think Malaysians are stupid. There is strong indication that many of BN ministers and ex-ministers have Swiss bank accounts. We all know that the BN government is not going investigate this because it points to them. Nobody will ask for an investigation if he himself is going to be implicated.

KSN: It is mandatory to declare to all commercial banks when remittances are sent outside the country with the details of the remitters and recipients and the amount in foreign currencies and ringgit. It is, I believe, for the Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) to monitor those transactions as well as the purpose of the remittances.

BNM should be fully held accountable, responsible and answerable for the illegal transactions. Or was the billions taken out in ringgit and dumped in the world market? Is not capital controls still in effect?

The finance minister, under whose jurisdiction BNM falls - who is also the prime minister - and the finance minister II, Bank Negara, the entire government should explain the huge amount of illegal money that was taken out.

Is this not sabotaging the economy and the country? Can the public expect some sensible answers?

Swipenter: This huge illicit capital outflow is tantamount to treason against the country in the form of sabotaging our national economy. Maybe that is why many sitting in the corridors of power in Putrajaya are dead against an exhaustive investigation into this scandal of epic proportions and are just dismissing and denying it outright.

Anonymous_4196: Are you sure about that, Mukhriz? Have you done a thorough research and make sure no stones were left unturned before making such a statement. How can you be sure that the claims made are not true?

You think an independent financial watchdog will risk its integrity to make this report available to the world? As a matter of fact, I think your rationale does not make sense. Stop embarrassing yourself in your hurry to defend the crooked.
