Khalid concedes Pakatan faces losing battle

Isa@1penyu: MB Khalid Ibrahim knows he will not have enough votes. Then why waste time and money and all this politicking? Just accept Mohd Khusrin Munawi and do your work as MB.

After all, the sultan's power was not eroded and what you want is more power for more of your own yes-men. That's all this wayang is about. Maybe Khusrin will prove to be a good state secretary after all.

Anonymous_5fb: Everyone, including Khalid Ibrahim, knew well before that the amendment bill will fail to go through. If in fact it goes through, then we can consider Pakatan Rakyat strikes lottery.

This proves that MPs and Aduns under BN have no rakyat's interests at heart, but exist solely and wholly for Umno, not even for the component parties under BN. Sovereignty of the state of Selangor, and for that matter other states, is lost forever with Umno still in power at federal level.


BN reps reject constitutional amendment

Righteous: The sitting was most certainly not a waste of time. That is how the democratic process is supposed to work. If these matters are not debated, it can be assumed we are not a democracy, and there is obviously a serious flaw in the federal constitution where the federal powers are intruding into the states' powers.

I am not surprised at all by that fact because of the many far-reaching changes that BN made to the constitution that were blindly rubber-stamped by BN politicians for fear of being punished by their party.

Ghkok: Selangor Opposition Leader Mohamad Satim Diman forgot one very important thing - the rakyat of Selangor. He is a member of the state assembly, which represents the voice of the rakyat of Selangor.

It is the duty of the representatives to speak up for Selangor and to defend its sovereignty and authority. It is the duty of the representatives to speak up against any party that undermines the state of Selangor. It is the duty of the representatives to support the constitutional amendment - an amendment that was meant to restore the authority and dignity of the state of Selangor and its rakyat.

Yet Satim speaks for his party and for MCA and MIC. BN's position is therefore very clear - BN does not support Selangor.


Pakatan, Umno trade 'treason' barbs

Justicekini: From the beginning, it is expected that the amendments would not pass without a two-thirds majority. You may have failed in the House, but the rakyat is with you.

And what's happening today will be well-recorded in Selangor history. The wisdom is that the assembly and the rakyat knows the reality of the two-thirds majority. Come next elections, the rakyat may give you more seats.

Work harder. Do the right thing for the people, without fear or favour.

Md Imraz Ikhbal: With all due respect, the sultan can assert whatsoever he likes on the royalty being apolitical, but their decisions and actions will speak louder than words and the right to construe howsoever they deem fit shall be the rakyat's.

Consenting to this assembly sitting was a good first step to convince the rakyat that the monarch is indeed royal as they are supposed to be and not the political stooges of the ruling government that most in this country and the world around perceive them to be.

Anonymous_418f: Port Klang's Badrul Hisham Abdullah has been missing all this time but turns up suddenly at this assembly sitting? What a drama king. People in Port Klang are not very lucky with their state representative.

First, we had the pirate Zakariah Md Deros, now we have AWOL (absent without official leave) Badrul Hisham. I hope PKR has a hardworking and loyal person this time around to contest the constituency.

Adha: Wow, suddenly the Port Klang state representative is well, up and running and wants to serve the people. I'm touched by this frog.

Speaker Teng Chang Khim should propose secret voting. By way of this, I'm sure some of the BN state representatives would secretly give their support to the amendment. They may be worried if they were to support openly.

But it could also work the other way. What if some members of the Selangor government vote against the Pakatan Rakyat government itself? Nevertheless, I am still for voting to be held secretly.

Anonymousdee: PKR leaders are the traitors. This bill is about giving powers to the menteri besar, not the sultan. At present, the sultan already decides who becomes the state secretary. Three names are given to him to choose one as recommended. PKR wants the MB to choose and recommend to the sultan. So you see, more wayang from PKR. It won't work.

Habib RAK: "This is a personal attack against Mohd Khusrin. He is known to be strict, professional and of high integrity, in line with the goals of the BN government," says Permatang assemblyperson Sulaiman Abdul Razak when speaking as the third debater.

Umno's Sulaiman, has just admitted that Khusrin is there to be in line with the goals of the BN government and not with the goals of Pakatan government. Hope the Selangor sultan reads this and hope he can remind the Selangor Umno politicians that Selangor is under Pakatan government and not BN government.

Ketuanan Rakyat: It is foregone conclusion that Umnoputras will not support this amendment either by voting against it or abstaining from voting. The rakyat will then be in a position to judge for themselves who is genuine in their action - Umnoputras or Pakatan?

Keep Your Head: The people of Selangor would know who is really playing games when they refer back to history. People remember what Dr Mahathir Mohamad did in the 1990s destroying the royal institutions.

Today, Umno tried hard to twist word in saying they are supporting the royal institution but object to the amendment? Your action speaks true intention.
