Badrul to file suit against seat vacancy on Monday
Selangor Umno liaison committee deputy chief Noh Omar today said that Port Klang assemblyperson Badrul Hisham Abdullah is expected to file for a court declaration this Monday against the announcement that his seat was vacant.
The Port Klang rep may ask the courts to rule on his seat following his alleged six-month absence.

Speaking to reporters after attending the nomination of Tenang by-election candidates Mohd Azahar Ibrahim for BN and Normala Sudirman for PAS earlier today, Noh (left) said Badrul Hisham will apply for the court to declare Badrul as the legal elected representative of Port Klang.
This follows Selangor speaker Teng Chang Khim’s announcement on Wednesday declaring the Port Klang seat vacant after Badrul Hisham allegedly absented himself without leave from state assembly sittings since July 16 last year.
Teng said that Badrul Hisham failed to attend sittings between Nov 8 and 13 last year and did not apply for leave until Dec 10.
Badrul Hisham has denied Teng's allegations, claiming that he attended the opening ceremony of the state assembly sitting on Nov 8 before taking leave to seek traditional medicine treatment.
Teng in turn rebutted that the only opening ceremony of the third session of the 12th legislative assembly was held earlier on Apr 12, and that there was no opening ceremony for the sitting in November for the annual budget session.
Teng had also cited the state assembly hansard, where Badrul Hisham was recorded as being absent on Nov 8.
Against empowering MB
Meanwhile speaking on the amendments to the Selangor constitution that the Pakatan Rakyat-led government has tabled to empower the menteri besar and the sultan over the appointment of senior state officers, Noh said BN’s stand against the amendment did not mean they were against the sultan.
“They said that the sultan has consented to the sitting (on Monday), but when we disagreed, we are made to sound as if we are in disagreement with the sultan.
“But in this issue, the sultan has only consented to the sitting, not to the constitution’s (amendments),” said Noh.
He also called the amendments a political move by Pakatan.
“If they really respected the sultan, they should accept Khusrin,” said Noh in reference to the newly appointed state secretary (above) whose appointment has been challenged by the Pakatan-state government.
“These amendments are only to return the powers of the MB as the full advisor to the sultan, which we are in disagreement with,” said Noh.
