Police have completed investigations into the complaint of Bernama photographer Hairul Nizam Baharin, 37, that he was assaulted by auxiliary policemen near the new Bandar Tasik Selatan bus terminal on Jan 9.

All the relevant documents have been handed over to the Attorney-General's Chambers, Kuala Lumpur police chief Zulkifli Abdullah said today.

"It is now up to the deputy public prosecutor concerned to take action.

NONE"I'm not sure whether more investigations have to be done, but we have completed our investigation and have handed everything over to them," Zulkifli (right) told a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur police contingent headquarters today.

Hairul Nizam alleged that he was assaulted by a group of men wearing auxiliary police vests at 11.30am that day, after he finished taking pictures around the terminal.

As he left the area, the auxiliary policemen asked him to stop his motorcycle but he refused as he was unsure of their intentions. One of them then grabbed his motorcycle keys while another punched and handcuffed him.

Contacted by Malaysiakini this evening, Hairul Nizam said he was shocked to learn about the KL police chief saying that his assault case had been fully investigated and that it had been handed over to the DPP.

NONEHe said he had just left the Cheras district police headquarters (at 5.30pm today), where he had a brief discussion on the case with CID investigating officer (IO) Abdul Malik Hasim.

"I was not aware of what the CPO said... in fact, the IO was still questioning me about the incident as they wanted to clarify some information. But no, I was not aware of my case being sent to the DPP," Hairul Nizam (left) said.

Nevertheless, he said, he was still upset over the incident as he believes no one should be treated in such manner, especially by uniformed personnel.

"I am going to leave it all to the DPP to take any action necessary," he added.
