The Transport Ministry and Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will cooperate fully with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to ensure that investigation into the 'Automatic Fare Collection System' tender could be resolved.

The ministry said in a statement that the project had been given an allocation by the government through the ministry concerned as one of the components identified under the 'Improvement of Commuter Service Capability' initiative of the National Key Result Area (NKRA).

"In managing the tender, all compliance to the regulations had been taken into account to ensure that the process and evaluation were carried out fairly, transparently and that the government received the best benefits," the statement said.

On Monday, the press reported that the MACC conducted two raids on the KTMB headquarters here to investigate the allegation on the suspicious award of a tender worth millions of ringgit.

Both the raids were carried out since late last month to obtain documents on the tender to revamp the ticketing system at all the 56 KTMB stations around the Klang Valley.

The tender to revamp the ticketing system was alleged to have been awarded to a company that was not 'qualified' with a bid of RM58 million although there were other companies offering a much lower price.
