Sri Muda assemblyperson Shuhaimi Shafiei is not resigning or quitting PKR, as claimed in a text-message circulated this morning.

Denying the rumour, Kota Raja PKR vice-chief Kamarudzaman Sanusi said there were "bad intentions" behind the text-message.

"I wish to state this clearly: the SMS is false and sent with bad intentions by certain people who are political enemies and who have vested interests," he told a press conference at Shuhaimi's office in Kota Kemuning, Shah Alam.

Shuhaimi has been lying low since yesterday.

He was not at the press conference to issue the denial in person, with Kamarudzaman claiming that he was at another meeting this morning and that he also had a "tight schedule".

NONEKamarudzaman said he may consider lodging a police report over the text-message.

He added tongue-in-cheek: "You poor reporters, you've been working very hard."

Journalists had staked out Shuhaimi's office since this morning.

Asked if he was accusing Umno of being behind the attacks, Kamarudzaman's response was cryptic: "There are many enemies out there."

He also said that Shuhaimi would attend a gathering at the state secretariat building in Shah Alam this afternoon, in support of beleagured Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

"After that, (Shuhaimi) will give his statement to the police," he added.

Certain quarters 'fanning the flames'

Shuhaimi did not turn up to give a statement to the police yesterday. It was said he would meet the police at the Selangor government's secretariat building in Shah Alam.

In a mobile text message to the media today, however, Shuhaimi said he will give his statement at the Section 11 district police station in Shah Alam at 4pm this afternoon after receiving a notice summoning him to meet the police over the matter.

The notice was submitted to Shuhaimi's mother-in-law last night.

"Although it (the notice) was not surrendered to me, I will be there to give my full cooperation," he said, adding that those involved in fanning the flames over his (blog) writings as opposed to the (Selangor) palace would also be called for their statements to be recorded.

"Incitement and provocation by the Awang Selamat column in the Mingguan Malaysia newspaper has caused a small section of the public to misunderstand me," Shuhaimi added in reference to the Malay-language daily.

In a related development, a source close to Shuhaimi said when contacted today that all his programmes have been 'frozen' for the time being.

It is understood that this was to ensure his safety, following his recent remarks that touched on the royalty in relation to the appointment of the new Selangor state secretary.
