Evacuees down to 1,883 as Kelantan floods recede

The situation in flood-hit areas in Kelantan improved this morning with the number of evacuees dropping to 1,883 from 2,238 last night.

A spokesperson of the Kelantan police flood operations room said the evacuees were being accommodated in eight relief centres, five in the district of Pasir Mas and three in Tumpat.
He also said that four roads remained closed to light traffic. They are Jalan Pengkalan Rakit at Km3, Jalan Pohon Tanjung-Rantau Panjang (old road) at Km9 at Kampung Siram, Jalan Banggol Kulim Lokasi 2 at Km23 and Jalan Cabang 4/Kg Jambu/Meranti at Km6 and Km9.
The spokesperson said the level of the Golok River had dropped to 9.38 metres but remained above the danger point of nine metres.
