P Dev Anand Pillai: With these kinds of incidents happening on a daily basis, it is no more an issue of race - the Indians usually end up dead, the Chinese are beaten up badly and robbed of their money and finally the Malays are beaten up when they demand their rights to know why they are being detained.

So folks, it is all up to us. If we still want this regime to continue governing us, the power is in our hands.

PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) really is a law unto themselves - judge, jury and executioner. Bernama photographer Hairul Nizam Bahrin must thanks his lucky stars that he did not end up as a ‘suicide' case.

Anonymous_408d: What is truly amazing is that it seems like the PDRM have absolutely no fear of all these really bad reports that keep coming out like clockwork. It seems as if they don't give a hoot in hell for the very bad publicity they have been getting for quite some time now.

What gives, Mr Home Minister and IGP (inspector general of police)? What is going on here? Will this be brushed aside with a stock answer of "We will investigate", and then some spin doctoring will take place? Why is it, Mr Home Minister, that it seems as if the PDRM have absolute authority to treat members of the public this way?

Even if this cameraman had done something wrong, isn't there some kind of procedure in place to look into what he did, or is it that the procedure involves physically assaulting and threatening the person with dire consequences?

Apapunbolehkah?: IGP, if this article is true, I think you have a lot of work to do. This incident must be investigated and if proven true, the culprit/s ought to be severely punished so that it acts as a deterrent to the other police not to behave like legalised gangsters.

The few bad apples must be gotten rid of, or else the name of the other good police officers shall be tarnished.

Not Confused: It's time to show these thugs in uniform who exactly is the boss and pays their wages. It's time to stand up and be counted, time for protests and demonstrations to show just what we think of these thugs in uniform. They are a disgrace not only to their uniform but also the Malaysian race. The home minister and IGP should immediately resign.

It's only a few months to the GE (general election), and for sure with incidents like this getting more frequent and gaining wider publicity, BN will be consigned to the refuse tip where they belong.

Disgusted: This kind of incidences are becoming more rampant and frequent and the police seem to be getting bolder and indifferent towards rakyat. They seem to be a law unto themselves and seem untouchable.

All this is because they have got BN wrapped around their fingers. It is a case of you scratch my back and I scratch yours. They do favours for BN by doing BN's bidding in taking care of BN's interest and acting like BN's own security guards or bouncers, and in return BN government closes one eye to their corruption and atrocities.

Some of the police force members act no better than Gestapo of Hitler's era or Russian KGB. BN has given the a open ticket to do so. The only way to make the police force to heel and bring order to the force is to remove the very forces from whom they derive such extraordinary powers, BN.

Swipenter: Maybe these uniformed thugs are trying to prevent Hairul from taking pictures of bungalows of VIPs that have encroached on government land designated as recreational land. This was highlighted in a newspaper last week. And the VIPs belong to a certain political party.

Hairul can count himself lucky compared to the detention of Jensen Chia who was beaten blue and black and had his money stolen for driving a car without a valid road tax. The police counterclaimed that he was detained on suspicion of carrying drugs and a deadly weapon.

Hairul, if you press too hard for an answer you might be charged for carrying a "deadly weapon" in form of a camera and some forbidden and illegal white substance.

Argonist: In any other country the journalists would come out and protest in the streets so that this ‘crucifixtion' of democracy and human rights are not passed over by the arrogant PDRM as a minor matter.

There are far too many negatives with the PDRM and something has got to give. The manner in which the louts of the PDRM protected the building (Bandar Tasik Selatan Integrated Bus Terminal) is reminiscent of the communist era in Russia and China (even today).

MyGosh: Make a police report against them. After that, sue them. Not that you are going to get justice with our courts, but you need to do it to teach these guys.

lbl: It looks like the auxiliary personnel believe that action speak louder than words. Using force seemed to be the order the day. The police have set the example.
