Lim, who is DAP national secretary-general, said he also regretted that Chua may have uttered the words because MCA felt the issue surrounding Teoh's death was unimportant.
At his press conference held at Komtar today, Lim, (left) urged the rakyat to show BN and its component party, MCA that his death is indeed important enough for the RCI to investigate the cause.
"We must show them the rakyat wants the RCI to probe Teoh's death... I am shocked to hear that Chua merely wants to listen to Umno, and not the people," he said.
"The people must show Chua that if he does not listen to their voices... then he has no right to represent them," he added.
Lim was responding to Chua's insistence that the RCI need not probe the DAP aide's mysterious death.
Ringing cry for justice
The former health minister had said that the attorney-general was already filing for a revision to the 'open verdict' of the coroner's inquest into how Teoh fell to his death 18 months ago when held for questioning by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Lim was speaking at a special press conference today together with Teoh's sister Lee Lan, who was in Penang on a drive to collect signatures to press for the setting up of the commission.
After the event, Lim and several others, including Bukit Bendera MP Liew Chin Tong signed the petition to support Teoh's family in their quest to seek justice.
He urged Prime Minister Najib Razak to heed the people's voice wanting justice for Teoh, and other mysterious deaths like those of A Kugan and Aminulrasyid Amzah.
"If we speak directly... no one should mati katak (have a meaningless death)... so it is time to follow the rule of law and establish the RCI to probe the cause of these deaths," he said.
"There must be closure to this matter... at least we can show that justice is still alive in Malaysia although we can never bring Teoh back to life again," he added.
Meanwhile, Lee Lan (right) wanted to know who should be responsible for her brother's death as the court's open verdict cannot explain the cause of the latter's shocking demise.
"No one should walk into MACC and come out dead... the MACC should be responsible (for my brother's death)," she said.
She said that her family is seeking a just and transparent investigation into the death.
Lee Lan questioned the AG's Chamber for wanting a revision of the open verdict, asking "what do you want from the revision?
"It was the AG's Chamber representative who submitted to the coroner a request for open verdict," she claimed.
The family has yesterday requested for another police probe as coroner Azmil Muntapha Abas had ruled that there were pre-fall neck injuries.
Lee Lan and the group Malaysians for Beng Hock were at the Cecil Road Market at 3pm today for the signature drive.
Later in the evening, they will be at the New Lane Hawker Centre, Gurney Hawker Centre and along Macalister Road.
