A mother of six has been warded at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital with slash wounds on the head and body, following an alleged machete attack by her husband’s second wife.
In the incident, Siti Aminah Hanapi, 54, could hardly fend off the blows as the alleged assailant struck her repeatedly at a house in Sungai Korok New Village near Jitra today.
The 10am attack also saw the victim’s 17-year-old daughter, Nurul Shuhada, sustained injuries when she slipped and fell on the machete which was on the floor.
While Siti Aminah and her daughter are reported to be in stable condition, the 27-year-old second wife, who has an eight-month-old baby, has since disappeared.
The police believe that the attack was due to jealousy.
Labourer Saad Hussin, 54, the husband of the two women, declined to speak to Bernama when approached.
According to witnesses, the two wives have been quarrelling almost daily, when Saad was away at work.
A neighbour, Nang Yah Nik Salleh, 52, said she saw Siti Aminah pleading for help and having sustained slash wounds on the head.
Kubang Pasu police deputy chief Deputy Superintendent Ibrahim Mohd Yusof confirmed that a report was lodged on the incident.
