MB at palace despite protest over Khusrin

Despite their presence at the swearing-in of former Selangor Islamic Department head Mohamed Khusrin Munawi as state secretary, Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim said he and his state exco members were in no way endorsing Khusrin's appointment.
Despite attending this morning's swearing-in, Khalid repeats that Khusrin's appointment as state sec is not final.
Despite their presence at the swearing-in of former Selangor Islamic Department head Mohamed Khusrin Munawi as state secretary, Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim said he and his state exco members were in no way endorsing Khusrin's appointment.
"As this day was set for Khusrin's appointment, we want to stress that our attendance does not mean that we agree with the arbitrary actions of the Public Service Commission (PSC) on our administration."
"We still stand by our decision that the state secretary's appointment is not final and requires an amiable solution," the MB said in a statement to the media prior to the swearing in ceremony at the Bukit Kayangan palace in Shah Alam this morning.
Khalid said that they had also informed the sultan that the state administration would hold a state assembly sitting to amend the Selangor constitution to restore the power of the ruler and the MB to appoint state executive officers.
"We reject allegations from certain quarters that we are committing treason against the king and state.
"Instead, it is we who are working to restore and defend the powers of the sultan and the state, which were eroded in the 1993 constitutional crisis," he said.
Khalid added that the state government regretted the "manipulations of certain parties with vested interests" as well as the mainstream media, which he said created a scenario of crisis between the Pakatan-led state government and the palace.
