Three hundred protestors marched to the gates of the Selangor state secteriat building in Shah Alam today to protest the state government's handling of the appointment of Mohd Khusrin Munawi as the state secretary.

They are also demanding the resignation of Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, likening his opposition to the appointment as a form of treason.

"Khalid is a traitor to the Malay rulers. He lied to the rakyat and has tarnished the state administration with his political machinations," said rally leader Hamidzun Khairuddin, who heads the Gerakan Anti Penyelewengan Selangor (Gaps) movement.

Protestors included members from Umno, Malay rights pressure group Perkasa and MCA Youth.

The group marched from Dataran Shah Alam to the building but were stopped about 100 metres from the gates by 30 police personnel in riot gear.

During the march, the group chanted Daulat Tuanku, Tangkap Anwar (Arrest Anwar) and Undur Khalid (Khalid resign).

Hamidzun, Selangor Umno Youth chief Ungku Salleh Ungku Jamal, Selangor Perkasa chief Abdullah Mansur, Perkasa Youth chief Arman Azha as well as Selangor Puteri Umno Chief and the Selangor MCA Youth chief were allowed to approach the gate.

A protest memorandum was submitted to Khalid's chief administrator Ghazali Bolhi.

Speaking to reporters later, the group accused Khalid of changing and manipulating the sultan's statement issued by his private secretary Muhamad Munir Bani yesterday to suit his own purposes.

The coalition urged the state administration, Khalid and the excos who support him to stop questioning Khusrin's appiointment.

"Any attempts to question the appointment is a challenge against the special position of the institution of Malay rulers," added Hamidzun on the matter.
