The Meteorological Department has forecast intermittent to moderate rain from tomorrow to Saturday in Kelantan, Terengganu
and Pahang and up to Friday in Sabah.

The districts in Kelantan likely to be affected are Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Tanah Merah, Kota Bharu, Bachok, Pasir Puteh, Machang and Kuala Krai; in Terengganu: Besut, Setiu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman, and in Pahang, Kuantan, it said in a statement.

In Sabah, the areas likely to experience such weather are Kudat, Pitas, Kota Marudu, Ranau, Kota Belud, Beluran, Sandakan and Kinabatangan, it added.

The department warned that the rain could cause floods in low-lying areas and along river banks.

It also warned that north-easterly winds of 50 to 60 km per hour and waves as high as 4.5 metres occurring now in the waters off Kelantan, Terengganu, Samui, Reef North, Layang-Layang and Palawan were expected to prolong until Monday.

North-easterly winds of 40 to 50 km per hour and waves as high as 3.5 metres occurring now in the waters off Pahang, eastern Johor, Sarawak (Mukah, Bintulu and Miri), Tioman, Bunguran, Reef South and Sulu were also expected to prolong until Monday, it said.

The department said the strong winds and rough seas posed a danger to shipping, fishing, sea sports and beach activities.
