Former PKR supreme council member N Gobalakrishnan’s recent tirade against party leaders has earned him a 45-page show-cause letter.

Gobalakrishnan said he received the letter dated Dec 31 via fax today and was only given seven days to reply.

According to the letter, the party had received complaints about Gobalakrishnan’s open criticisms against the party.

He is asked to show cause and, if he fails to reply in time, the party’s disciplinary board will decide on the matter.

According to Section 27.7 of the party’s constitution, this may include terminating his membership, said the letter.

Speaking at a press conference in Lunas, Gobalakrishnan questioned the lack of professionalism shown by PKR and secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, who signed the letter.

Even his name, noted Gobalakrishnan, was spelt wrongly with a missing ‘h’.

He also lamented that he has had no time to reply to the letter as he has been busy with constituency work, and that he would only be able to read it after returning from India for an official visit from Jan 6 to 15.

He said further that he will write to Saifuddin, who he termed ‘Anwar’s hatchet man”, to ask for a 45-day extension in his reply to the letter.

NONE“I do not know if I can finish going through this 45-page letter with my busy schedule, with all the problems in my constituency; I get zero help from the Kedah Pakatan government or any PKR leader, I only depend on my parliamentary allowance for all my work,” he said.

“Only after I come back from India, I will sit down and read page by page  of all the accusations and prepare my answers,” he added, saying he has a lot of homework to do regarding the matter.

Earlier, Saifuddin confirmed issuing the letter and said that Gobalakrishnan will be asked to explain his various outbursts.

“This (show-cause letter) is a normal procedure when there are party leaders who continuously attack the party without going through the proper channels,” said Saifuddin.

Gobalakrishnan, who is the Padang Serai MP, has gone on the warpath against the leadership beginning with claims that the party elections were rigged.

In a show of opposition to the party leadership, Gobalakrishnan also appeared at the home of the party’s then-biggest dissident Zaid Ibrahim, moments before the latter demanded that party de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim to step down.

Following this, Gobalakrishnan lashed out at the party for appointing political novice N Surendran as vice-president, claiming that the latter was not capable of representing the Indian community and could not speak Tamil fluently.

His most recent attacks on the party leadership involved the reopening of the Sivan Temple in Petaling Jaya. Gobalakrishnan claimed that Awnar had personally ordered the closure of the temple.

In between all this were numerous posts on Twitter where he condemned party leaders, particularly Anwar and deputy president Azmin Ali.

Gobalakrishnan went on to repeat his attacks on Anwar, saying the de facto PKR leader of PKR is not fit to lead Pakatan.

He also urged DAP and PAS to decide on Anwar’s leadership, and urged PKR leaders to give his daughter Nurul Izzah, instead, to "take over" the party.

As a "PM-wannabe", Anwar should be open to all criticisms, and investigate the charges against the party, especially those involving the recent flawed party direct elections, said Gobalakrishnan.

he said that Anwar is "two-faced" and behaving like a politician who wants to be the prime minister, one the one hand, but on the other was "killing" politicians such as Zaid, Jeffrey Kitingan, Ezam Mohd Nor, Lokman Adam and Ruslan Kassim.

“These are the members who in one way or another sacrificed for the party... What a mistake for them to join PKR,” he said.

“The latest to face the guillotine is me,” he added, obviously disappointed with the latest development in his political career.

Gobalakrishnan said he will continue to speak out despite attacks on his character from other PKR leaders. He added that he is aware of a plot to sack him.

Even if he were axed from the party, Gobalakrishnan said he would speak to Parliament speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia to reinstate him in PKR’s bench.

“I will challenge PKR’s decision... I know they have started demonising me.

“(They are saying that) I am trying to buy myself into becoming an independent (by attacking the party)...

"Azmin has all the paid bloggers to do his dirty job... When I read all these things about me, I just laugh over it,” he added.
