MB downplays Khusrin's role as state secretary

Cala: Khalid Ibrahim has three options assuming that the appointment of Mohd Khusrin Munawi is a fact due to whatever reasons:

1) Accept the situation as given but he may create a ‘director of Selangor secretary's office' post to oversee Mohd Khusrin's work.

2) Accept the situation as given, but actively promote a deputy Selangor secretary to curtail the powers of Mohd Khusrin.

3) Accept the situation as given, but make no attempt to induct Mohd Khusrin into any sensitive topic to ensure they are kept out of the latter's reach.

On the third option, Mohd Khusrin knows he will be under close surveillance by the Pakatan Rakyat state government machinery.

Raja Chulan: Pakatan must allow the full drama to play out so that the rakyat can see and judge the whole thing for themselves. Pakatan must be transparent and go very public with whatever information it has regarding this matter.

In the end, it is the rakyat who will judge BN's, Pakatan's and the sultan's role in this matter and form their opinion accordingly. Always remember and believe that in a democracy, the rakyat's will will ultimately prevail.

Albert: Being a former major corporate player, MB Khalid should know exactly what to do if he is forced to accept Khusrin as state secretary, who is expected to try his level best to undermine the effectiveness and efficiency of the state government.

He should not forget that he has two assistant state secretaries who are probably more competent and better qualified than Khusrin, besides being better team players. For the smooth running of the state government, Khalid has the option to make full use of the assistant secretaries (to perform the duties of the state secretariat function) and to partially, if not completely, sideline Khusrin.

Wira: No, Khalid, you are not answerable to the sultan. He is a constitutional monarch whose power is to appoint someone he feels is likely to command the majority of the state assemblypersons.

Once appointed, he cannot sack you if a majority of the legislators in the state assembly support you. By law, the sovereign must heed the advice of the MB. He cannot act otherwise unless it is on matters affecting royal functions or on Islam.
If you don't believe or understand me, go ask Dr Mahathir Mohamad for his comment. Please remember, most importantly, that you are answerable to the people of Selangor.

Anonymous: Why make so much noise? If Khalid had not talk in public about it earlier, he would not have lost face. Instead, he has upset the sultan when this should have been a storm in the teacup.

That's Khalid for you - make all kinds of noise. But he should look around, no one else was making noise - Anwar Ibrahim, Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng, Nik Aziz Nik Mat, Azizan Abdul Razak. No one, except him.

Of course, PM Najib Razak won't like his state secretary be chosen for him, but when he took over from Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, he did not change the state secretary. So if you want Najib's powers, win the next general election.

Tiga Abdul: All this torture imposed by BN on Pakatan can make the party stronger. That is what we want. Don't be like BN, relying too much on handouts and cronyism to survive. How are you going to face international issues when you take over Putrajaya, if you can't even manage a civil servant named Khusrin?

Play along, do your best, and get yourself ready for the 13th general elections.

Faz: To add to the drama, Khusrin should not be sworn in by the MB, thus disqualifying him to be the ex-officio of the executive council. He should be left to do the mundane day-to-day administration, such as routine paperwork, preparation of pension papers and the like.

Since the executive councillors' deliberations and their approvals are the nerve centre of the state administration, a new office to manage this should be created to handle the processes without the involvement of Khusrin.

1Malaysiakuku: If Khalid refuses to give way to the sultan's ‘appointment' of the state secretary, will the sultan then sack the menteri besar ala Perak and appoint an Umno man who will then advise the sultan to dissolve the assembly paving way for an election in Selangor?

Then there will be another constitutional crisis, with Umno and MCA grinning on the sidelines.


Khusrin an 'agent' of BN 'pirates', says Zuraidah

Patriot: Selangor is blessed to have a honest ex-corporate captain in Khalid Ibrahim to be MB. The way he handled the Talam debts showed his skills in resolving the debts which were all hidden under the myriad of subsidiaries under Selangor government.

No other MBs, including Penang CM Lim Guan Eng, have these skills because they never had that kind of corporate exposure before.

Those naive critics calling the Talam debt restructuring a bailout only reflect their own incompetency and financial knowledge. The Selangor MB can easily cold-storage this BN agent by sidelining him and form more committees to report to him.

2cents worth: Indeed, Zuraidah Kamaruddin, you are absolutely correct - the pirates are desperate with nothing to show for more than five decades and zero desire for change. Their only recourse is to spread lies, play frog and bulldoze their way in by sheer numbers (for example, suspending four opposition members of parliament).

Seeing how unscrupulous they can be, the worst is yet to come.
