The body of a newborn baby girl was found at the Beris Lalang waste disposal site today by a garbage collectors with the Kota Bharu Municipal Council.

Bachok police chief DSP Yahya Salleh said the workers discovered the body stuffed in a white plastic bag as a garbage lorry was unloading waste at the site at about 3pm.

The body of the baby with the umbilical cord still attached was sent to the hospital for a post-mortem, he told reporters here today.
