A woman left the week-old baby with Qurratnaini Amni Jamaludin, 20, at 10.25am but did not return after visiting the washroom for two hours, prompting her to take the baby home and lodged a police report.
Qurratnaini Amni's father, Jamaludin Latif, 50, said he and his wife were fond of the baby and wanted to adopt him although they already have six children with the youngest one aged five years.
"We are touched with his smile and he is an innocent boy who cries whenever he is hungry," he told Bernama at the Seremban Hospital here today.
The baby was admitted at the children's ward and is in stable condition after being prescribed glucose yesterday.
Jamaludin, a fire-fighter, who lives in Rantau near here, said he would apply to the Welfare Services Department for adoption of the child next week.
As a matter of fact, Qurratnaini Amni, who studies at a nursing college in Kota Damansara, had named the boy Mohd Aqil Fauzy which means "the admirable envision success".
"If the mother does not claim the baby, my parents and I will raise him. I am saddened upon seeing that his name was written as unknown on the baby cot," said Qurratnaini Amni.
